TRANSCRIPT

[log started Thu Feb 8 17:35:02 2007 CST]
Participants: M_Barton, <Klint4>, <Vicky>, skeeter, Keith, kiwi,
christyneberzsenyi, <southernbelle>, <alex>, <Ellen>, OoglyBooglyBoo, and
Joanne

Keith turns the Vermilion Room Recorder on.
christyneberzsenyi arrives from the Southwestern Cafe.
Keith leaves.
kiwi says, "Hi, all. "
skeeter says, "hey"
M_Barton says, "Okay, this is the PhD application room"
<Vicky> says, "hihi""
<Klint4> says, "hello""
kiwi says, "Guess I can help with this discussion"
christyneberzsenyi says, "hi all, too"
kiwi waves to christyneberzsenyi.
christyneberzsenyi says, "oops, wrong room, bye"
kiwi grins at christyneberzsenyi.
kiwi says, "So, you're all interested in applying for PhD programs?"
skeeter says, " yep sooner than later"
<Vicky> says, "i am not for now, but eventually I will""
kiwi [to <Vicky>]: I presume that means you're relatively new in the MA
program?
Keith arrives from the Southwestern Cafe.
kiwi waves to Keith.
Keith says, "hi ou all, waht's the subject here?"
skeeter says, "i'm in my first year"
kiwi [to Keith]: phd programs
Keith could have typed that better
Keith [to kiwi]: thank you
Keith leaves.
kiwi says, "It IS good to start thinking early about where you might go
for a PhD program"
kiwi says, "But I wouldn't worry too much at this point about how
"hard" it is to get in"
skeeter says, "for sure-"
M_Barton leaves.
kiwi says, "Instead, I'd focus on where you WANT to go--based on which
program has the faculty and the programs you want to study"
M_Barton arrives from the Southwestern Cafe.
skeeter says, "is it true that universities don't like to have students
from their own state?"
<Klint4> leaves.
kiwi [to skeeter]: no, that's not necessarily true
<southernbelle> arrives from the Southwestern Cafe.
<alex> arrives from the Southwestern Cafe.
kiwi [to skeeter]: Generally, though, students are counseled to do
their MA and PhD work at different schools
skeeter says, "hmm well i'd like to go to a phd program that focuses on
researchin literature"
kiwi . o O ( though that's not necessarily always something you need to
do )
<Ellen> arrives from the Southwestern Cafe.
christyneberzsenyi leaves.
kiwi [to skeeter]: Have you attended the MLA conference?
kiwi waves to <Ellen>.
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: hi, Ellen.
<Ellen> says, "Hi. Had to exit room for a bit."
skeeter says, "it'd be nice if the university had a feminist theory
program as well"
skeeter says, "no i haven't been to the MLA confrence"
OoglyBooglyBoo arrives from the Southwestern Cafe.
kiwi says, "The best way to get to know various schools and faculty, to
find the ones that are the best fit for you, is to attend the
conferences."
skeeter says, "do you typically have to pay to go to those as well?"
kiwi says, "MLA for literature, of course. CCCC, C&W, and other
conferences for composition/feminist/etc."
<Ellen> says, "conferences are a bit intimidating, from what I hear..."
M_Barton says, "Yes, going to the conferences are a great way to
network."
kiwi [to skeeter]: yup, though there are usually reduced rates for grad
students
<southernbelle> says, "does anyone know of a good phd program in early
20th century american lit, next door to a school that gives MS's in
marriage and family therapy"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <Ellen>) "you are attending one now :)"
M_Barton says, "I don't think they are intimidating. Well, maybe MLA."
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: yup, they can be (Computers and Writing conference
is fun and welcoming though)
skeeter says, "the only one i've seen in minnesota is the NCTE one"
M_Barton says, "Computers and Writing is a great conf."
<Ellen> says, "no, but thinking about it."
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <southernbelle>) "a lot of schools with ph.d.
programs will also offer that degree"
kiwi [to skeeter]: This year, CCCC is in NYC--next month. Computers
and Writing Conference in Detroit
<alex> says, "how did you guys decide which area to go into"
kiwi says, "Some schools DO offer some $$$ for graduate student travel
to conferences"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <southernbelle>) "most ph.d. programs are offered by
large universities, with a lot of different departments"
<Ellen> says, "sorry; I misunderstood the comment. Thanks. I feel much
better now. Great introduction to conferencing"
kiwi says, "And I have money to give away to students who want to
attend the f2f GRN at this year's Computers and Writing Conference,
too"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <alex>) "I started in creative writing, but became
very interested in electronic rhetoric, especially as it applies to
computer games"
skeeter says, "yeah at st cloud we have to go to the student government
and request it, then it can take 2 months to find out if they'll fund
your trip or not."
kiwi nods to skeeter.
skeeter says, "kind of a pain in the butt!"
kiwi [to skeeter]: yes, usually, you want to pay attention to the calls
for proposals to conferences. If your proposal is accepted, you
IMMEDIATELY want to apply for funding
skeeter says, "yeah that's the goal!"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to skeeter) "does st. cloud have any kind of graduate
student association that is seperate from the SGA?"
kiwi says, "But there are other ways to begin with conferences, too.
CCCC has the Research Network Forum, similar to GRN"
<southernbelle> says, "St Cloud is some college"
skeeter says, " not that i know of"
<Ellen> says, "I suppose we could find funding on our own. Thinking
creatively always helps."
<Vicky> says, "I am not interested in PhD program, but it's nice to
hear about helpful information""
<alex> (to OoglyBooglyBoo) "<which area do you think will have the most
job opportunities?"
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: I ran up huge credit card debt as a grad student :(
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "another way to pick a graduate school is based on
the faculty who teach there"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to kiwi) "I am still paying mine off, but keep using it
to buy books!"
<Ellen> says, "I think I'd like to get a job at a CC and settle
somewhere south of MN"
skeeter says, "what is the best research university in the midwest?"
kiwi says, "At the conferences, many graduate programs host
"receptions" (with free food, sometimes alcoholic beverages....) for
students to come and talk about their programs"
M_Barton says, "well, it the US can't stay out of debt, I don't see how
a grad student can."
OoglyBooglyBoo (to skeeter) "on the graduate level that dependson the
subject"
<southernbelle> says, "how can i convince the U of Minnesota to take
me?"
Joanne arrives from the Southwestern Cafe.
OoglyBooglyBoo (to skeeter) "many ph.d programs take different
approaches to a subject"
[ 5:45 pm ]
skeeter says, " ok. so how is the research in english in the midwest?"
kiwi says, "Grad students often get a cheap hotel room and sleep 16 to
a room (okay, well, as many as they can cram in) to save money at
conferences"
M_Barton says, "Oogly, what classes are you teaching next year?"
kiwi nods to OoglyBooglyBoo.
skeeter says, " true that's what we did in rugby"
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "I am teaching english 403/503"
<Vicky> leaves.
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "english 481/581"
Joanne leaves.
<Ellen> says, "Dr. Barton's 503 was fantastic last semester. "
kiwi says, "Besides conferences, you can also pay attention to the
articles/books you are reading. What schools do the authors
teach/study at?"
skeeter says, "kiss up!"
<alex> says, "what will be your topic for 481"
kiwi . o O ( the authors of the articles/books you're interested in,
that is! )
OoglyBooglyBoo (to skeeter) "when you think about graduate schools you
often are not thinking about English, but a specific subfield of
english: for instance, 20th century american lit"
<Ellen> says, "yeah, yeah. He didn't even notice."
skeeter says, "ah that's a good tip"
kiwi [to OoglyBooglyBoo]: exactly
skeeter says, " yeah "
skeeter says, "well i know i want to do am lit, but not sure where in
there yet"
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "Like I said, i went in creative writing, and
chose the university of Louisiana at Lafaytte in part because Earnest
Gaines is the writer in residence there"
<Ellen> says, "Is it possible to combine two subfields?"
kiwi says, "Your professors like Matt Barton can help, too. If you're
interested in what he's teaching, chances are he can point you to
others who are working in that area--and programs they teach in."
M_Barton says, "Definitely."
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: Few subfields are really isolated, so yes
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <Ellen>) "it is"
<Ellen> (to kiwi) "thanks."
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: for instance, composition and rhetoric, feminist
rhetorics, computers and writing, and more all relate
kiwi smiles at <Ellen>.
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <Ellen>) "the program I graduated from had more of a
generalist interest, so I am trained to teach in a variety of fields"
kiwi nods to OoglyBooglyBoo.
<southernbelle> says, "all night long"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <southernbelle>) "but I charge extra for that!"
skeeter says, "would you recommend doing the generalized approach?"
kiwi graduated from a school with a "traditional" English degree--so I
had literature training, but my "specialization" was composition and
rhetoric and subfield computers and writing
kiwi [to skeeter]: I think that depends on your interests
OoglyBooglyBoo (to skeeter) "it was good for me because though I was
interested in creative writing, I had not really decided on a
speciality"
<Ellen> says, "My emphasis currently is General as well. It lets me
choose."
skeeter says, "what about job market wise?"
kiwi adds, however, that you might want to check the job ads beginning
NOW
<alex> says, "can you emphasize in the general"
<alex> says, "sounds contradictory"
kiwi says, "Even though you aren't planning on getting a job yet, you
can get a sense of where the "market" is going (perhaps)"
kiwi grins at <alex>.
M_Barton says, "My advice would be try to get "computers" on your CV"
<southernbelle> (to <alex>) "what's your thesis"
kiwi [to <alex>]: some programs are just more general than others
<Ellen> says, "That's my goal. Computers on my CV. Can I put this on
my CV?"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to skeeter) "the job market is just that; a market: it
is sometimes hard to predict what will sell and what will not sell"
M_Barton says, "Yes. "
M_Barton (to <Ellen>) "yes."
<alex> (to <southernbelle>) "I'm not sure, I was thinking about
something in magic realism"
skeeter says, "does reading recently published articles help in
figuring out what the current job market is?"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <alex>) "oh I love magic realism!"
kiwi says, "absolutely! You have officially attended a Computers and
Writing Online conference!"
M_Barton says, "You can say that you have attended an online conference
and have experience with Moos."
<southernbelle> says, "how can I get published when i am at this level"
<alex> (to OoglyBooglyBoo) "I'm just not sure which direction I want to
go with it"
<southernbelle> says, "certain profs are less than forthcoming about
this issue"
<Ellen> says, "I think the future is computers and rhetoric; my
specialty has been decided. Now, throw a little creative writing in
and I'll look really good."
M_Barton (to <southernbelle>) "start with conferences, then try
pubilshing"
<alex> says, "good question belle"
kiwi [to <southernbelle>]: Ah, publishing. You can do it
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <alex>) "come by my office Eastman 109, and we can
chat!"
kiwi did it.
<alex> (to OoglyBooglyBoo) "I would love the help!"
kiwi grins at OoglyBooglyBoo.
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <southernbelle>) "do you know about the upenn call
for papers site?"
kiwi agrees with M_Barton
kiwi conference presentations and f2f GRN or RNF meetings can help you
fine tune your work for publication
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <southernbelle>) "a lot of times journals and
conference publish call for papers there"
<southernbelle> says, "m what will a confrence give me standing wise?"
M_Barton says, "Yes. If you target a special issue of a journal or an
edited collection--that's much better than "cold calling""
kiwi says, "And sometimes you actually meet people who are editors of
journals or special issues or collections"
kiwi [to M_Barton]: yup.
kiwi is teaching a course in Writing for Publication this semester.
M_Barton (to kiwi) "So much for Chomsky's generative grammar ;-)"
kiwi grins at M_Barton.
kiwi chomps Chomsky.
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <southernbelle>) "when applying for PH.D. programs,
it is usally enough to show that you have presented at a conference or
two"
kiwi nods to OoglyBooglyBoo.
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "a good conference might be the mnscu conferences
on rhetoric or whatever"
<Ellen> (to skeeter) "hi"
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "because theya re usually within driving distance,
last a day or so, and are much cheaper"
M_Barton says, "Yes, I was lucky enough to have presented at a rhetoric
conference in Arizona and had a book review published in Computers &
Composition"
[ 5:55 pm ]
kiwi says, "You can start with smaller conferences. For instance, MLA
usually has regional conferences."
kiwi [to M_Barton]: luck had nothing to do with it :)
<Ellen> says, "do they have free food at conferences?"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <Ellen>) "only if you pay for it!"
skeeter says, "does mnscu change topics often?"
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: yup--if you know where to look
<southernbelle> says, "what about a colloquium here at SCSU?"
kiwi [to <southernbelle>]: put it on your CV
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <southernbelle>) "that is a very good place to
start"
<Ellen> says, "Food might be the deciding factor."
M_Barton says, "The publishers throw "parties" "
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: then you definitely want to come to the Computers
and Writing Conference--most of your meals are included
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <Ellen>) "keep in mind that a lot of conferences
offer discounted rates for grad students"
<alex> says, "that is a good idea"
kiwi . o O ( and I have $$$$ to give grad students who want to come....
)
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "A group of you could submit abstracts to the same
one, travel together, share a hotel room"
<Ellen> says, "I suddenly love Computers and Writing."
M_Barton says, "Yes, come to Computers and Writing. If you're hungry,
somebody probably has a big Mac. ;-P"
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "and if you run out of food, pick the weakest one
and cook him or her"
kiwi . o O ( http://www.georgiasouthern.edu/~writling/GRN/ -- follow
the links to the call for proposals--and to the application for travel
funding, or email me: jwalker@georgiasouthern.edu )
<Ellen> says, "That was a very interesting comment about roasting
colleagues."
kiwi says, "C&W also makes dorm rooms available very cheaply"
<alex> says, "is it true that grad students can apply for up to $500
for expenses related to a thesis?"
M_Barton says, "The conference isnt' even that far away from
us--detroit"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <alex>) "I am not exactly sure what is available at
St. Cloud"
kiwi [to M_Barton]: yeah, maybe a group could drive in
skeeter says, " i want it!"
<southernbelle> says, "I should read my email"
M_Barton says, "At USF, the application for graduate travel funds was
simple. GO to a gas station and purchase a pick-5."
skeeter says, "good call"
kiwi grins at M_Barton.
OoglyBooglyBoo laughs at M_Barton
<Ellen> says, "500$ is a lot of money. Let's have a contest and see
who can come up with the most creative reason for being awarded the
money."
kiwi [to M_Barton]: Hey, USF once gave me $100 -- to go to the
conference in Hawaii
<southernbelle> <lies down and cries>
M_Barton says, "Not to be confused with a 6-pack."
kiwi rolls her eyes.
<alex> picks belle off the floor
<alex> and slaps him
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "At ULL we had a graduate student organization
that awarded grad student $500 a semester to go to conferences"
M_Barton says, "$100? That's a lot. They recommended that I save money
by taking a bus to Hawaii."
<alex> says, "I think it would be a great thing to have, give you some
money for travel expenses or whatever"
kiwi says, "There are other opportunities, too. For instance, CCCC
offers Scholars for the Dream Awards. And they have scholarships in
memory of past chairs who are deceased."
kiwi says, "And sometimes publishers (like Bedford St Martins) offer
"scholarships" for grad student travel to conferences"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to M_Barton) "does the st. cloud english department
help grad students with travel"
kiwi grins at M_Barton.
skeeter says, "ha"
<southernbelle> says, "ditto that ha"
kiwi [to M_Barton]: the then-chair of the USF English dept. thought
Hawaii was "international travel"
<alex> says, "I wish they could put some pamphlet or something together
with information on that"
M_Barton (to OoglyBooglyBoo) "I think so."
kiwi nods to <alex>.
<Ellen> says, "Dido that Alex"
M_Barton says, "The person to ask would be Barb."
skeeter says, "they don't want anyone to know about that!"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to M_Barton) "that is another avenue grad students can
pursue. Amybe you and I can talk with glen about making annoucements
about that?"
<alex> (to skeeter) "<I suppose>"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to M_Barton) "or barb"
M_Barton says, "Okay, guys, what say we do this for about another 15
mins?"
skeeter says, "it could be the next graduate meeting"
<Ellen> says, "D-i-t-t-o Alex. Sorry."
<alex> says, " I knew what ya meant"
M_Barton says, "I will ask around and get the details on that, Alex."
<alex> says, "excellent"
<Ellen> says, "Yep-excellent. "
M_Barton says, "Just remember that next time I pass around the tip jar.
;-P"
kiwi says, "So, finding grad schools by finding your niche, meeting
people at conferences, finding travel funding--GOOD topics all!"
<Ellen> says, "I'm afraid. "
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "basically applying to graduate schools take a lot
of research and preperation, especially at the Ph.D. level"
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "it is never too soon to start"
<southernbelle> says, "I am goin to write the longest most meaningless
quote ever just so all of you have to spend time reading it
hehehehehe. Roses are red, violets are blue, Oogly's the best so
there "
<Ellen> says, "No Ph.D for me. G"
M_Barton says, "And don't forget to ask if the conference itself has
some kind of graduate fund"
<alex> says, "I'll remember to bring my dimes"
<southernbelle> says, "why ellem?"
<southernbelle> says, "ellen"
<alex> says, "ellemenoP... G"
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: never say never. :)
<Ellen> says, "Because. Need to be done. Soon. Eyes are tired."
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: I never thought I'd go to graduate school at
all--ever. Hell, it took me 25 years to finish my BA
M_Barton says, "If you have a Ph.D. in English, and you can drive a
truck, you got a job my friend!"
skeeter says, "what kinds of writing do you have to show when you apply
for a phd other than your masters thesis?"
kiwi is a little s l o w
<southernbelle> says, "or just the truck"
OoglyBooglyBoo is a ghost!
kiwi says, "But one of my professors talked me into applying--and it
beat working."
<alex> says, "scary"
<southernbelle> says, "ala hamlet"
[ 6:05 pm ]
OoglyBooglyBoo (to skeeter) "many programs will ask for a writing
sample"
kiwi is glad she did.
kiwi nods to OoglyBooglyBoo.
skeeter says, "like a portfolio?"
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "which is usually like 15-20 page paper"
skeeter says, "ah ok"
kiwi says, "If you have a published piece, that makes a good writing
sample, of course. But most samples are seminar papers."
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "more like a paper such as you write in a graduate
seminar"
OoglyBooglyBoo . o O ( Kiwi beat me to the punch again!!! )
kiwi [to skeeter]: some look for portfolios, but usually just a single
sample is all they want to read
<southernbelle> says, "m's getting coffee"
<alex> says, "what are good types of papers to turn in as writing
samples of PhD?"
kiwi [to OoglyBooglyBoo]: I type 100+ wpm :)
kiwi . o O ( and I talk a lot irl, too! )
OoglyBooglyBoo (to kiwi) "I only type with two fingers"
<Ellen> (to kiwi) "Thanks for telling me about the 25 years. I may
reconsider down the road."
kiwi grins at <Ellen>.
kiwi [to <Ellen>]: life is long (and hopefully good!)
<alex> says, "I wonder what M's powerpoint will be like tonight"
skeeter says, ":)"
<Ellen> says, "So far, good."
<alex> says, "I bet it will rock"
kiwi's son started college before she managed to finish!
kiwi . o O ( we matriculated undergrad together! He hated it! )
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "you can work with your thesis advisor to really
polish your writing sample"
kiwi nods to OoglyBooglyBoo.
kiwi [to OoglyBooglyBoo]: definitely.
<alex> says, "I see"
kiwi says, "You can also take advantage of various networks -- RNF,
GRN, Qualitative Research Network--there are others, too. Get
feedback on your work"
<alex> says, "do you think the writing sample or GPA GRE have more of
an effect on admission?"
<Ellen> says, "I feel like my writing has a long way to go before being
publishable."
<alex> says, "don't we all ellen"
skeeter says, "but then i read some real junk that got published!"
kiwi says, "Oh, yeah--join the professional listservs (DUH!!)"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <Ellen>) "I still feel that way, even though I've
been published"
<southernbelle> says, "does anyone have insight as to any articles
written exploring the Jocasta complex in O'neil's long days journey
into night?"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to kiwi) "oh yes, of course!"
kiwi [to <alex>]: it's not one or the other; it's the combination. But
the GRE/GPA count most
<Ellen> (to OoglyBooglyBoo) "Really?"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <southernbelle>) "I don't off hand, but if you can;t
find an article on that subject, that means you need to write it"
kiwi [to <alex>]: however, many people start grad programs as
"conditional students" w/o the GRE/GPA scores
<southernbelle> says, "that's what im saying"
<alex> (to kiwi) "<how about undergrad GPA, does anyone look at that at
that level, or just masters>"
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "one thing that Keith Dorwick taught me when I was
his graduate student is that everythign is potentialloy an article"
kiwi [to <alex>]: for PhD? I doubt it
<alex> (to kiwi) "thats good"
kiwi [to <alex>]: Many top rated profs had TERRIBLE undergrad gpa's.
:)
<alex> (to kiwi) "whew"
kiwi grins at <alex>.
<Ellen> (to OoglyBooglyBoo) "Thanks for the vote of confidence and
advice."
OoglyBooglyBoo made a D in biology and French!
kiwi [to <alex>]: if you have the GRE scores and the GPA in the MA
program, you're all good :)
<southernbelle> says, "does a 4.0 gpa say anything anymore?"
<alex> says, "D- in bio for me"
kiwi agrees with Oogly/Keith. Even topics that have been "done" can be
articles if you have new insights/perspectives
<southernbelle> says, "grade inflation"
M_Barton says, "All right, everyone, it's about time for Barton's class
to come back to face to face ville"
kiwi [to <southernbelle>]: most grad students have that--or close to
it.
kiwi pouts at Matt.
OoglyBooglyBoo (to <southernbelle>) "that is why I fail all my
students!"
M_Barton says, "I want to thank everyone for hosting this conference
and being so helpful!"
<alex> says, "hooray for the powerpoint"
kiwi [to M_Barton]: but I LIKE your class!!!!
<southernbelle> says, "thanks all"
<Ellen> says, "I've got many new insights/perspectives but not an
inkling on how to produce writing to explore the topic"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to M_Barton) "don't leave us!!!!"
M_Barton hugs kiwi.
kiwi hugs M_Barton.
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "could we all reintroduce ourselves for the
record"
kiwi [to M_Barton]: see you in NYC?
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "before we leave"
M_Barton (to kiwi) "If all goes well!"
OoglyBooglyBoo is Kevin Moberly, Assistant Professor of English at St.
CLoud State University
skeeter says, "i'm stacy from st cloud"
M_Barton says, "I'll see you all either in Detroit or NYC!"
kiwi is Janice Walker, Georgia Southern University, GRN Coordinator,
and $$$ giver
<southernbelle> says, "out,out-"
<alex> has disconnected.
<Ellen> says, "Good-bye and thanks! I'm Ellen from St. Cloud, 2nd
semester grad. student in English/general emphasis.."
<southernbelle> has disconnected.
kiwi hopes to meet all of you f2f sometime!
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "if any of you want to meet me in person, stop by
Eastman 109!"
M_Barton says, "Goodbye, everyone!"
M_Barton has disconnected.
<Ellen> says, "I was well kiwi-"
<Ellen> has disconnected.
kiwi [to OoglyBooglyBoo]: that's not fair--you're too far away for me
to "stop by"!"
kiwi whuggles Oogly
OoglyBooglyBoo (to kiwi) "but minnesota is beautiful at this time of
year"
skeeter has disconnected.
[ 6:15 pm ]
kiwi shivers, thinking about it!
kiwi says, "Back to the main room, I guess?"
OoglyBooglyBoo (to kiwi) "there is nothing like the beauty of sand and
salt and ice"
OoglyBooglyBoo says, "yep"
kiwi grins at OoglyBooglyBoo.
OoglyBooglyBoo leaves.
kiwi leaves.
OoglyBooglyBoo arrives from the Southwestern Cafe.
